In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was arrested for the alleged killing of a 70-year-old woman during a dispute with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. As per the police, Bijendra Kumar, the deceased woman's son, had a disagreement with Majid, a resident of the same area. The woman, Ramvati Devi, tried to intervene to protect her son, but Majid reportedly pushed her, causing her to fall and sustain injuries that proved fatal. Abhishek Srivastava, ACP of Kavi Nagar, stated that Bijendra resided with his brother and mother in LIG flats in Madhuban Bapudham. The incident occurred around 12.30 am when Majid, an e-rickshaw driver under the influence of alcohol, was sitting outside the Kumar residence. An argument ensued when Bijendra questioned Majid's presence. Hearing the commotion, Ramvati tried to defuse the situation but was allegedly pushed by Majid, resulting in her sustaining severe injuries. Despite efforts to save her, she was declared dead at the hospital. A post-mortem examination was conducted on Ramvati's body, and an FIR has been lodged at Madhuban Bapudham police station under relevant sections of the law. The accused has been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.
